3 Warning Signs Indicating Something’s Wrong with Your Sewer Drain

Sewer drains are great when they work well, but sometimes they can cause real problems. If you know what to look for, however, you can catch problems when they are still small rather than having a disaster.

1. Gurgling noises- One of the signs that you may have a sewer drain problem is that you hear gurgling noises after flushing a toilet or while your bathtub or sink is draining. This may be a sign that there's air in the lines, or that there's some kind of water trap that needs venting.  Now is a good time to call a sewer drain expert.
2. Slow drainage- Another sign that you may have a sewer drain problem is that water is draining to slowly from the bathtub, sink, or toilet. This may be because of a blockage that's in the sewage system, either inside the house or in between the house and the sewer line.
3. Bad smells- If you smell something foul in the house, this might be because of blockages in your toilet or sink traps that are venting the sewer smells back into the home.  If the smell lingers and doesn’t go away, you might want to call a sewer drain pro to check things out.
